Hon. Daudi Migereko cuts the tape to launch Rwizi View Apartments.

UDB is funding the construction of Rwizi View Apartments in Mbarara Municipality. These are 120 self-contained 2 and 3-bedroomed condominium apartments in an organised estate with all modern infrastructure and amenities. The construction was officially launched on 30th April 2016. UDB as funders were prominent guests at the occasion. The chief guest was Hon. Daudi Migereko, the then Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, representing the Right Honorable Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Mrs Patricia Ojangole congratulated National Housing & Construction Company and Mbarara stakeholders on the achievement.

"UDB congratulates you on the attainment of this important milestone and is proud to be associated with the project success" she said.

"UDB aims to support projects that fall the key growth sectors of the economy and which have high socio-economic impact. Housing development has been identified in the National Development Plan as a primary growth sector and in this regard falls within the ambit of UDB's focus," she added.

The 2014 housing and population census established that there are 7.4 million households in Uganda, with an average size of 5 persons. It also noted an increasing rate of urbanisation, with a total urban population of 6 million persons in 202 urban centres. These statistics point to a critical need for housing at all levels and emphasise the housing deficit in urban areas.

"Given this background, the opportunity to partner with National Housing and Construction Company in the construction of Rwizi View Apartments was therefore one UDB embraced wholeheartedly.

UDB looks forward to successful completion of the project and pledges to support National Housing and Construction Corporation in future endeavours," said Patricia in her remarks.
