On the 3rd, 4th and 5th of September 2019, UDB hosted a series of high-level stakeholder engagements on building a 21st Century Ugandan Economy and building a resilient financial sector.
This was a follow-on initiative from the signing of a communique by the Hon. Minister of Finance Planning and Economic Development, Hon. Matia Kasaija and Mr.Arshad Rab, the CEO of European Organization for Sustainable Development (EOSD) in July 2018. The communique was signed to mark the government commitment to the promotion of a resilient and profitable financial sector positioned to deliver socio-economic well-being of the people of Uganda. Other hosted guests included the Deputy Governor and Director Supervision of the Central Bank of Zimbabwe who are in a related cooperation with EOSD and came to share Zimbabwe’s experience.
Mr. Rab delivered the keynote address at a High-Level Stakeholders meeting at the Kampala Serena Hotel on 3rd September 2019. This was followed by the signing of a joint statement on creating a strong, resilient and inclusive financial sector by Governor Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile for Bank of Uganda and Arshad Rab for EOSD.
Mr. Rab attended meetings with other key stakeholder groups from Uganda Bankers Association, the Ministry of Energy, Bank of Uganda and Uganda Manufacturers Association.
