The SME Kazi Loan is a dedicated intervention by Uganda Development Bank (UDB) aimed at supporting the growth and resilience of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) across the country. This facility provides affordable financing coupled with tailored business support services to help SMEs overcome common challenges such as limited access to credit, weak operational capacity, and vulnerability to economic shocks. Through this intervention, UDB promotes the sustainability and competitiveness of SMEs by enhancing their ability to invest in productivity, strengthen management practices, and expand market access. The SME Kazi Loan ultimately contributes to job creation, economic diversification, and inclusive national development.
Key Features
- Minimum financing of UGX 50 million and maximum financing of UGX 720 million.
- One-time appraisal fee of 0.75% (1% for short-term working capital, with 0.75% on revolving amounts).
- Interest rate ranging between 10%–12% per annum.
- Business advisory services provided to promote sustainability.
Criteria
- Entity must qualify as a Small or Medium Enterprise.
- Annual turnover of up to UGX 100 million for Small Enterprises and up to UGX 360 million for Medium Enterprises.
